Ready, Set, Glam! Preparing For On-Location Services.

Updated: Sep 16

In the world of beauty, there's a growing trend that's taking the industry by storm – on-location hair and makeup services. Whether it's for a wedding, photo shoot, or a special event, the demand for professional beauty services that come to you is on the rise. No longer confined to the walls of a salon or studio, the world of beauty is hitting the road, bringing the glamour straight to your doorstep!

In this blog post, we'll delve into the art of prepping hair and makeup for on-location services, offering you invaluable insights, tips, and tricks to ensure you look and feel your absolute best, no matter where you are.

Prepping your space:

  • Due to the nature of the amount of tools, equipment, and products we carry at all times, we request a table or counter space to be cleared and easily accessible upon our arrival. We always bring our lighting and a chair suited for our height, so the more space the better!

  • To piggy-back off the above notation, locations that are multi-story are best if an elevator is available for us.

  • Sometimes standard hotel rooms can get a little cozy once we all get set up (especially with multiple artists!) we recommend opting for a suite, or even a conference room if you have a large group of people receiving services.

  • While we adore furry friends and small humans, we kindly ask that they keep a distance from our equipment and kits to avoid any accidents, or injuries. But we will totally love on them once we're finished and packed up!

  • In areas where parking is limited, we ask that one parking space is designated and reserved per artist.

  • We recommend wearing a top that has an open neckline, or a button down top to easily change into your outfit without disrupting your hair and makeup.

Prepping for makeup:

  • Please arrive with clean skin. You can lightly moisturize skin if you'd like, but please no heavy serums or oil based products. Your skin will be prepped accordingly at the start of your appointment.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure- makeup does not adhere properly to sunburned skin!

  • Groom or wax any fuzzy areas about a week prior. (We do not tweeze brows on the day of appointment).

  • Keep in mind that event makeup is typically heavier than everyday makeup! While we specialize in airbrush to keep it looking skin-like and lightweight, you will still probably feel like you have on more makeup than usual. Even simple, no-makeup makeup looks require a good amount of product.

Prepping your hair:

  • Unless a blow-out has been scheduled prior to your appointment, you should arrive with clean, dry hair. Please wash and blow dry hair the morning of your appiontment or the night prior. Air drying can cause excess moisture at your scalp which contributes to frizziness.

  • After washing, do not apply any leave-in products such as serums or oils.

  • Do not apply any heat to your hair after blow drying. Do not flat iron your hair!

  • When looking for inspo photos it's best to look for styles with a similar color and texture to yours.

  • Keep in mind your event when planning a style! For beach or outdoor events (especially during summer months), we recommend avoiding an all down style.

It's also helpful to have a photo or two on hand for inspo. While it's not required, it does get us insight into your personal tastes and style. We will provide a mini touch-up kit with your lipstick sample, oil blotting sheets, bobby pins, and more!
